Mail-Drop by Shackleton off the East coast of Africa. Having spent many weeks at sea on Beira Patrol the mail-drop was enthusiastically awaited. The sea-boat would be quickly dispatched to recover the floating canisters. More often than not the canisters would leak, consequently our letters would end up soaking wet and on occasions the ink would run, making them impossible to decipher.
