"Away
sea-boats crew!" was a cry often heard over the ship's Tannoy system. Run
like mad with portable radio (625 or 634), climb into the sea-boat when level
with the upper deck. Sea-boat lowered whilst we let the ropes slip through our
hands. Sea-boat almost touching the oggin when the coxswain would hit the slip
and then we'd hit the sea with a crash. Engine full on and veer away from the
ship.....
