The tusks as you
enter the town have now been demolished.. the carvings site and market are still
in the same place as Fred Drayton remembers, just to the left as you passed the
tusks.. You now berth alongside... the sugar refinery.. next to the
ferry (Malindi) I think its called.... its only a short walk into the town from
there and brings you out at the crossroads at the top.... most of
the old bars are still in situ .. (although the names have changed.. they are
more a tourist trap now than a Matelots haunt)...
