Dear Mr Taylor
You may be aware that
earlier this year Channel 4 ran a TV programme titled
”EXOCET” in 2001. The programme centred on the
Falklands conflict of 1982. In the programme I gave an
interview of my recollection of the events immediately
prior to the attack on HMS SHEFFIELD by an Argentinean
Super Entendard fighter-bomber. During this attack, HMS
Sheffield was hit by an air launched AM39 Exocet Missile
on 4th May 1982.
During the making of the
programme the MOD made a written reply to answer
allegations by myself and other crewmembers that the
subsequent Board Of Inquiry (BOI) was not held in a most
professional and open way. I myself, dispute this reply
as my evidence at the BOI was tampered with.
This letter represents a
formal complaint against the MOD in that they covered up
evidence that I gave which implicated that a RN Officer
was absent from place of duty and that I was ordered to
lie by high ranking, senior Naval Officers.
As my MP I trust you
will raise this important issue. I do not feel it is
right that RN Officers are left to investigate such
tragic events without an independent body being
involved. I am prepared to go on record or to court if
need be, to ensure that justice and the truth regarding
the sinking of HMS Sheffield and the loss of 20 lives
are factual and accurate.
My aim is to ensure that
the enquiry is re-opened and the truth about what
happened to “Shiny Sheff” on 4th May 1982 becomes
aware to all. Further, I feel that certain individuals
be held responsible for their actions. I look forward to
hearing from you.
Yours Faithfully
Craig Brydon

Doug (George) Laybourne:
The time has now arrived when this former witness to the
'truth' regarding HMS Sheffield, needs to be given ALL
THE SUPPORT THAT WE CAN MUSTER!
This will require witnesses AND supporters, to 'get off
the fence NOW and join the campaign for JUSTICE &
TRUTH by writing to their own Constituency MP in support
of Craig's brave letter.
For
example: Firstly. Those veterans whom say that they were
either asked or ordered to; alter their own personal
written testimonies, regarding the absence of a key
officer at a crucial time in the 'Exocet action', while
they were on passage back to the UK, must ACT NOW, by
writing a similar 'formal complaint as their evidence
will not only support Craig's complaint of 'tampering',
but show clearly how the efforts to cover-up 'gross
negligence' started, long before the Board of Inquiry!
Secondly. ALL we 'Sheffield (Campaign) Supporters' MUST
in turn, support all of the veterans concerned by
writing to our own Constituency MPs, voicing concerns as
to the 'mounting allegations of a cover-up
It is intended to provide some guidance, regarding these
letters, shortly
