All eight ships formed the 6th Emergency Flotilla. June 1945 joined 24 DF part of the British Pacific Fleet. Operation Inmate (attack on Truk) Task Group 111.2 (Truk Atoll is in the Caroline Islands.
14/06/45 Force arrived some 85 miles south-west of Truk.
15/06/45 Cruisers and destroyers shore bombardment. SWIFTSURE, TEAZER, NEWFOUNDLAND, TROUBRIDGE, ACHILLES, UGANDA, TENACIOUS. TG 111.2 left Truk at midnight on 15/06/45 06/07/45 Task Force37 sailed from Manus. KING GEORGE V, FORMIDABLE, VICTORIOUS, IMPLACABLE, NEWFOUNDLAND (Flagship 4th Cruiser Squadron), BLACK PRINCE, EURYALUS, ACHILLES, UGANDA, GAMBIA, GRENVILLE (D4), UNDINE, URANIA, URCHIN, ULYSSES, UNDAUNTED, QUIBERON, QUICKMATCH, QUALITY, QUADRANT, TROUBRIDGE (D24), TENACIOUS, TERMAGANT, TREPSICHORE, TEAZER. 02/09/45 Token British Force at the surrender of Japan TF 38.5 After the World War 2, all were paid off into Reserve. December1946 to August 1949 TROUBRIDGE was reactivated to replace SAUMEREZ and took over as leader of the 3rd DS in the Mediterranean. 1949 Returned to Chatham and Reserve. TROUBRIDGE was the only one of the class to be converted to a Type 15 Frigate; all the remainder became Type 16 conversions. 1955-57 Conversion to Type 15 Frigate. December 1957 to February 1962 8th Frigate Squadron stationed in the USA, West Indies and in Home Waters. 15/05/63 Towed from Portsmouth to Malta for refit. 07/09/64 27th Escort Squadron 27/03/69 Paid Off at Chatham 05/05/70 Arrived Newport to be broken up. |
